Blood Donation programme organized by NSS on 01.10.2015 - VTU

              VEL TECH Dr.RR & Dr.SR TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY
“Blood Donation Programme” on National Voluntary Blood
Donation Day organized by National Service Scheme – 1st  October 2015

Nothing is comparable to the preciousness of human blood. In spite of the rapid and remarkable conquests of medical science today, there is no factory that manufactures blood. It is only in human beings that human blood is made and circulated. For those who require blood for saving their lives, sharing from other fellows is the only means. Hence, donation – rather voluntary donation is the only way of accumulating blood at safe storage to meet emergency requirements for saving lives. This is the greatest gift one can do for the mankind. Voluntary Blood Donors are saviors of mankind.

October 1 is National Voluntary Blood Donation Day which is celebrated all over the country to create awareness of safe blood, which is possible only by regular voluntary blood donation. The significance of observance of a day like the National Voluntary Blood Donation day is to mobilize voluntary blood donors by motivating the potential donors to motivate for the cause of the society.

In view of the day, National Service Scheme of Veltech University organized a Blood donation Programme at Velmurugan Auditorium in the university campus.    Doctors and Staffs from Keelpauk Medical College (KMCH) and E.S.I Hospital, chennai came to the campus and collected around 200 units of blood from the volunteers of NSS, faculty and students.

Number of Units donated : E.S.I Hospital – 80 units ;  KMCH – 120 units
Total : 200 units

The programme was organized by NSS program Coordinator Mr. Sivakumar, NSS Program Officer Mr. Niruban projoth, Club coordinators Mr. Irfan Ahmed,        Mr. Saran Raj, Mr. Sridar and NSS student coordinators. The programme ended with Vote of thanks and National anthem.
