“Republic Day Celebrations” in VTU Campus

26^th January 2016

In view of 67^thRepublic day on January 26^th, National Cadet Corps (NCC) and National Service Scheme (NSS) in hands with Department of Physical Education organized “Flag Hoisting Session” at 8.30 a.m. 

Mr.R.Subramanian (VTU 3027) IV year BTech Mechanical Student, Topper of the University hoisted the National Flag.  Around 300 students and all the faculty members gathered for the Flag hoisting session.

Our Honorable Founder President Col. Prof. Dr. Vel R. Rangarajan, Foundress President Dr. Sagunthala Rangarajan, Vice Chancellor Prof. Beela Satyanarayana, Registrar Dr. E. Kannan along with Deans and HODs accepted the honor given as March Past by NCC students, NSS students, Club Students, Sports students of VTU.

The overall contigent was led by “Cadet under Officer” Abdul Nayeem.

1.Following him was Veltech university NCC Air Force Guards led by “Cadet Warrant Officer” Pushkar.

2.University Air wing contigent led by “Cadet SGT” Santhosh Kumar.

3. Succeeding him was the university Army Wing contigent led by “Senior under officer” Chongme Rani Momin

4.NSS girls team led by  Yogitha.

5. Unit 1 NSS boys under Bhargav B.

6. Unit 2 NSS boys under TejoNikhanj.

7. Community Pro club led by Manoj Kumar.

8. VTU Clubs led by Sunena Lal.

9. Girls sports team-1 led by Kesiya M.

10. Girls sports team-2 led by M Abhinaya.

11.  University Sports team led by T. Karthikeyan.

12. University warden team led by Mr. A Pethanan

13. University guards team led by Mr. S Dhanraj.

14. NCC band team under “Cadet Corprl” Durga Prasad.

After the parade the various cultural program were witnessed.

1. Bharatanatyam by Miss Lavanya.

2. Dandia, the traditional dance of Gujarat was performed by Miss Sunena Lal and team.

3. Calisthenic exercise were done by Miss Niveda and team.

4. Gymnastics ribbon performance by Miss Rudraprabha.

5. “Cadet Sgt” Santosh Kumar performed Silambam-a weapon based Indian Martial art.

The event was further led by distribution of following awards:

With the distribution of awards the program was ended giving a vote of thanks and paying gratitude to all the honorable dignitaries for their presence, faculties, staff and students for their active participation and co-operation towards making this function a great success.
